Description
Stewed Elderberries by Obsthof Christandl is made from fresh elderberries stewed with a little sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Known as "Hollerröster" in Austria, this traditional fruit speciality is the perfect accompaniment for sweet desserts, such as quark dumplings (Topfenknödel) or sweet shredded semolina pancakes (Grießschmarren).
Tip: The consistency is similar to that of a compote. To thicken it, simply bring it to a boil and thicken with cornstarch or vanilla custard powder until you get the desired thickness.
