Description
You either love it or you hate it: the intensive, licorice-like, sweet flavor of Anise that is unique but not for loved by all. The sweetly spicy aroma of Anise is reminiscent of licorice. It starts off with a striking sweetness, it quickly sweeps into a spicy, refreshing note that is similar to that of the famous digestif Ouza.
Tips & Preparation:
Anise is used to refine breads, pastries and cakes. However, Anise is quite versatile and is quite well-known in Indian cuisine. Fish dishes and alcoholic beverages also benefits from the addition of Anise.
Tip: Its flavor best unfolds when it is ground using a mortar shortly before adding it to the dish or beverage.
