Alongside panettone, pandoro is one of Italy’s two iconic Christmas cakes.
It owes its name, literally meaning “golden bread”, to the rich golden hue of the dough, a result of the addition of fresh eggs.

Traditionally, pandoro contains no added ingredients, but in this modern variation, dark chocolate drops add a touch of indulgence.
